THE BLANKET
Casa Árabe Madrid
Material: Hangers
27/02/2015 - 15/04/2015
The Blanket was a project that the subsequent terrorist attacks in Paris in 2015, unfortunately, gave it a prophetic dye. After a visit to Casa Árabe madrid in late 2014, Keshta felt the inspiration to create a very special carpet-sheet made un only with hangers that intertwine to from geometric patterns and that , far for being from on the ground, is a suspended sculpture, floating over the heads of the spectators, supported only on a bucket. The artist warns: "They are just hangers, no blanket, no carpet". Thus, this ambiguous sculpture - is it the holly shroud revered by Christians or the prayer rug or saggadah of Islam? - It is but religion as a pretext - "are hangers" - under which hide to cover all kinds of performances. The visitor, regardless of the creed he professed, was hopelessly under the blanket that insulates him physically and spiritually from reality, alienating his judgement to the limit.
